As Mahmud Es’ad Cosan (MEC) Foundation (est. 2002 in Australia) we have, to date, organised 3 International Qurban projects, with support of muslims around the world. İn total, the number of sheep slaughtered in this year’s Qurban project has reached 7,930 including wajib qurban, aqiqah, sadaqa & adaq.
Our MEC Foundation has maintained sensitivity regarding hygiene and food safety conditions, the quality of sheep and ensuring that high standards are upheld at the time of slaughtering, as we have been in past years. Australia is considered one of the world’s biggest and best quality halal meat exporters due to it’s well developed agricullture farming. Sheep farming is one of the biggest sectors in the farming industry and it’s vast greenery areas keeps Australia’s sheep and meats in constant high demand.
Highest standards & hygiene
The slaughterhouse utilised by us is one of Australia’s highest in term of quality and hygienic standards. Its use for the slaughtering of only halal meats, enables it the capacity and ability to be a prime distributor of halal meats to Muslim countries over the world.
Australian sheep used for slaughter by the MEC Foundation, are initially tested against standards by veterinarians and subsequently by volunteers of the MEC Foundation. It is only after the livestock have been approved of according to health safety and halal standards are they then slaughtered.
At the time of slaughter, hours of labour are allocated to enable that’s care is taken in preparation. Each Qurban that is slaughtered is done so through the mention of the person intending to sacrifice and donate that particular Qurban.
The slaughtering took place on the first day of Eid-ul Adha on Tuesday the 9th of December 2009 between 12.30pm and 11.30pm on the second day of Eid-ul Adha, the 10th of December, slaughtering was once again continued between 6.30am and concluded at 1.30pm, in total, an 18 hours effort enabled the slaughter of 7,930 Qurban. All Qurbans slaughtered were divided into 6 pieces, making a total of 47,580 pieces of meat, after frozen process the meats then sent to its destination in Indonesia. The containers in which meat was loaded took motion to Indonesia on the 21st of December, 2008.
Distribution by first hand
Our team of volunteers will also participate in the distribution of the Qurban meats in Indonesia as they did in the slaughtering. Through careful control and direction, all donated Qurban meats are being monitored to ensure that they successfully reach the destination of the allocated 47, 580 homes. One of our principle in this organisation is to deliver the Qurban meats to the needy people from first hand.
Love Allah & read HIS message
We maintain that when your Qurban meats are distributed to the needy people in Indonesia, the following message will also be delivered; “Mahmud Es’ad Cosan Foundation loves you. Love Allah (swt) & read HIS message, Qur’an, Surah: Insan, Ayah: 8-10".
