The distribution of qurban meats has been completed

As Mahmud Es'ad Cosan Foundation; we have successfully completed our fifth annual qurban organisation. The trust of those who gave authority and supported the 1431/2010 MEC Foundation’s International Qurban Organisation has been fulfilled and the processed qurban meats have been delivered first hand to the neediest in Indonesia.

The sacrifice was carried out with our high objectives and in Australia's state of the art technological facilities with high health standards. The cattle and sheep qurbans were packaged in 3kg lots and sent forth to be distributed to those families in Indonesia that are most in need. Following the near four week journey, the processed qurban meats arrived in Jakarta port and after clearing customs, were jointly received in cooperation with Indonesia’s Server Foundation. The qurban meats were then sent via refrigerated transport vehicles to their intended distribution cities of Yogyakarta, Gunung Kidul, Medan, Asahan, Batubara and Langkat.

Our foundation planned the distribution with local council agencies in the cities of Yogyakarta and Gunung Kidul. For the first time this year, distribution was performed outside the island of Java and in the city of Medan, located close to Aceh in the Island of Sumatra. Foundation officials worked with Amir Hamza University to carry out the distribution of the qurban meats at Medan, Asahan, Batubara and Langkat.

The most extensive distribution took place at one of the city’s biggest stadiums called Mandala Krida Stadium, in the city of Yogyakarta. During the ceremony that started with the reading of the Holy Qur’an, the authorised governor representative thanked the owners of the qurban and the MEC Foundation. After the keynote address of MEC foundation officials, the ceremony continued with nasheeds and followed by the distribution the qurban meats. The ceremony in Yogyakarta concluded with 8000 people collecting their meat and leaving for home with joy in their faces.

Those who never have the possibility to eat meat were identified and given coupons, as a result of careful collaboration with local official authorities. Throughout the 16 separate distribution locations, our fundamental aim as always was to personally deliver the qurban meats first hand, to those in real need. In full knowledge of what was required of them, the MEC foundation officials carried out their responsibilities to its finest detail.

We pray to Allah (c.c) to accept the qurban of those who preferred the needs of their Indonesian brothers to that their own and supported MEC Foundation’s ever growing qurban organisation.

“And they give food, for the love of Allah to the needy, the orphan, and the captive. (They say) We feed you only for the pleasure of Allah. We do not wish any reward or gratitude from you. We only fear a Day of distressful Wrath, from the side of our Lord”.

As a result, we express our gratitude to those in Turkey, Australia, Indonesia and many other countries, who mentally and administratively supported the organisation. We also thank the appropriate channels in Indonesia and also the 500 volunteers who worked with us to make the 1431/2010 MEC Foundation’s Qurban Organisation a success.
